Just read an article from Google Systems that Google have or will be removing the “I’m feeling lucky” button on their search page. Personally, I have only used that button once, and it was because of a silly joke that spread in email.
I don’t think a lot of people will miss it. I don’t think a lot of people use it in the first place. Their new interface though looks interesting, kind of what we see frequently nowadays with other systems. The navigation menu and preview boxes are some that we also see in updates such as what I saw in the new Yahoo! mail. When I saw that, I was happy that it makes it easier for users to see how many comes up and separated into categories like in which folders and what year/month. I haven’t seen the new Google layout yet, only the screencaps provided in the article but I am definitely excited to see how it works and if it will make my life easier.
Has Google removed the I’m lucky button in your search page already? How do you find the new layout? Is it easier to navigate? Hope you can share your thoughts.
Just heard word from our national weather service and TV stations that it will pretty much be a gloomy week. This is because of continuous low pressure areas evolving into either typhoons or tropical depressions. Sigh.
Due to this weather, our power has also been interrupted a number of times already, and these are the 1-minute interruptions that I’m afraid might do more damage to our appliances than the hour-long outages. Now I make sure I charge everything I can at the beginning of each day, rechargeable emergency lights, phones, laptops, tablets, basically everything that I could charge. It may seem petty to worry about these things but I know for a fact that these “things” help me and my little girl entertain ourselves when there’s no power. The games on my phone and on the tab are what keeps us busy during these days. Good thing there are a lot of games that don’t need internet connection to be played.
How I wish though that we have one of those modern outdoor fire pit. I’m sure we’ll have a blast with it even when there are outages everywhere. Just thinking of roasting or heating up mallows and hotdogs will definitely be a distraction from such a gloomy week or any day for that matter.
My little girl kind of took over my phone because of this new game that she recently learned to love, Flower Garden by Snappy Touch. The thing that I like with this game is that it teaches her to be patient because the flowers need to grow at their own time. She has to water them and that in itself can be a task too because there is such a thing as drying out and over watering the plant.

This is her newest plant, the Orange Bell, and this is also the last plant in all the available seeds. Because of her loyalty and dedication to planting the flowers, she gained enough credits to buy all of the seeds and additional pots.

Now that she’s in the expert stages of planting, the flowers take longer to grow, about a week plus a couple of days without the use of fertilizers. This actually made her “let go” of my phone more often so I was able to re-discover my love for Jack Johnson. But lo and behold, the little girl liked my tunes too and is taking ownership of my phone again. Although I love seeing her dance to the beat, I think it’s about time for an ipod shuffle for the little lady, don’t you think?
Father’s Day is coming up and I honestly don’t know what to give my husband. I find it very difficult to find gifts for men, whether it be their birthdays, special occasions like Father’s Day or even for anniversaries. But basing it from what he seems to respond to the most, I think he prefers gadgets and family dates more than any other gift.
This year, I haven’t really decided yet on what to give him this Father’s Day. I was thinking of saving up the expense and just give him something a bit more for our 3rd wedding anniversary (Church) which is coming up soon. Because I usually just buy something off the rack for the past couple of years, I wanted something unique this time especially since our little girl can comprehend gift-giving already.
Since leather is the traditional gift for the 3rd year anniversary, I thought of buying him a personalized laptop case made in leather. Or if we follow the more modern gift for a 3rd year anniversary which is crystal or glass, I could also go for a crystal wall clock engraved with our names and wedding date. I’m sure there are other great ideas available so I’ll try to search for online anniversary gifts for men and see if there are other options to choose from.
