For most website owners, several “rankings” are important depending on their objective and target audience. Sites that primarily get paid for advertisements or sponsored posts and reviews may give more importance to their Page Rank because some advertisers prefer to work with sites that have a high page rank for backlinking purposes. If more sites with high Page rank link to their site, it somehow shows authority to their site in the eyes of search engines.
Other site owners give more importance to traffic, especially if they are earning through advertisements which are based on number of impressions or clicks. High traffic increases the opportunity for sale or the exposure of the products advertised on your site. Placing well in Search Engine Result Pages (SERP) also help to increase traffic.
One way to succeed in landing the top results on SERPs is through Search Engine Optimization. Some sites hire a professional search engine optimizing company to help find the best keywords for their products. By knowing what most people search for, they can work around it to make your site land on the first page of search engine results. Being on the first page or the top 10 links of search engine results page have a big impact on being clicked by web surfers.
There are other factors that may be important for other websites aside from Page Rank and Traffic of course. Ranking priorities are also different for blogs and websites. It’s just a matter of knowing which one is more important for you and start working on it.
It has never been easy to take a break from the online world. My day starts with reading a couple of articles from various news sites then I check my emails for work items. Once I start working on my tasks, I get so absorbed with it that I end up working for long hours without even realizing it.
A couple of weeks back, it was Holy Week here and I tried to make time and spend most of it with my family since the hubby is off from work. It was then that we found out about a series called Revenge starring Madeleine Stowe, Emily VanCamp and Gabriel Mann among others. The story got us so intrigued that we tried to look online for the streaming of the next few episodes.
One episode caught my eye. It was when Jack offered to repair and move the swing on Emily’s porch. I’ve always wanted to have swings whenever I have my own house, one on the porch and another in the backyard where it’s more private. Actually, Emily’s house is somewhat how I’ve always imagined a house on the beach. I really do hope that later in life we can make that dream into a reality.
For now, we’re very content in admiring the houses at the Hamptons from the show. I’m glad we found this new past time. Those videos online have never been more inviting for me until now. I still hope to get it on Bluray though just so I can keep it for future viewing (when I want to look back at that dream house again).
Earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, heavy snow. These are just some of the unavoidable phenomenon that has been happening to the whole world more frequently. Just recently an 8.7-magnitude earthquake rocked close to the coast of Indonesia and sent tsunamis in more than 4 countries surrounding the Indian Ocean.
Because of these things happening more frequently, I’m trying to prepare myself and my family for the worst by researching what to do online. I stay home with my little girl so I kind of think it’s easier for us in case something happens but for those who work, I hope their companies or even the building admins where their offices are, also offer seminars on what to do in case of calamities.
One advice I remember being given when I was a child was to stand under a door frame or an arch because in the event of damage, the frame or arch can provide support and not flatten what’s under them. I guess for metal arch buildings it could be the case since metal can stand heavy weight but for ordinary wooden frame, I don’t think it would be much help. Because the little one and I are in an ordinary home, I’d rather we use the Triangle of Life approach in cases of earthquakes or other calamities.
Have you heard about the Triangle of Life? If not, stay tuned for my next post and I’ll try to summarize related info on it so you can also prepare yourselves for the worst.
One reason, to quit smoking. Yes, that’s one reason why we’re all looking at trying the sport of Running for health reasons.
I’ve quit more than 4 years ago but for others in the family, they really find it hard to quit cold turkey so they’re thinking that if they try a sport to make them more health-conscious, it will outweigh their craving for those little sticks of death.
Just recently I found this store online where one can get himself/herself analyzed for the proper shoe fit. They take into consideration the type of foot you have, your running stride and other factors that may affect how you run. We decided to check out their service and ended up buying a new pair of running shoes for the hubby since he’s serious in considering going back to running to eventually curb his morning ciggy habit.
Since I can’t run because of my knee problems and I have yet to have our little girl checked by a pediatric orthopedic, I’m considering getting a jogging stroller for us. I can walk at my own pace and the little girl can also spend the early morning with us in the stroller so hopefully she’ll also pick up the habit as she grows up. Wouldn’t it be great if the “morning runs” still turn out to be a family activity even though the primary purpose was just to run for our health?
