I have started to set aside some money to buy a new laptop for myself. I work online, and I feel it’s only best if I buy my own laptop since it is my bread and butter. I can move anywhere, live anywhere, and do everything I want as long as I have it. I couldn’t afford to spend a lot though, since I have to be practical, and I also would want to set aside some money for a small business that I plan to start with a good friend. I was considering to buy a Dell, but they don’t have any service centers here, and I kind of lost interest in the whole Dell laptop thing. Sort of just waned. But going back, I am now trying to consider my options — Acer or Toshiba. I like Toshiba because my former boss was raving about how good Toshiba laptops are, and even some of my friends who are computer geeks err, experts told me it would be a wise investment to buy a Toshiba laptop. So now I am confused. I like Acer because it’s quite a good brand too, and the Acer dealer here in Zamboanga is my dearest cousin’s BFF, so repairs and the likes won’t be any problem. However, I am really inclined to get a Toshiba because of the beautiful reviews online about overall durability and the high quality battery (really long battery life) that each Toshiba laptop has.
Anyone care to share their take on this? I would really appreciate any kind of input. TIA!

I just bought an ACER laptop a couple months ago. Well hubby actually did the comparison and he found ACER the best. I must say I am very happy with it
Thanks so much Jade!
ako, I don’t really have an idea kung ano mas maganda. pero wish ko rin magkaroon ng sariling laptop. hehehe
Kayang kaya mo yan. Mayamaners ka na rin eh!
I would suggest that you first have the specs of the best Acer and Toshiba laptop that you can get considering your current budget. You can start your comparison from there. Toshiba laptops are more expensive than Acer and most of the times, if the prices are equal, there’s a possibility that the other would have greater memory, RAM and the more latest OS.
The availability of a service center is also one of the factors that you should take into consideration.
Invest in a greater memory, bigger RAM laptop because they are faster and less prone to “hanging” – especially if you’re into multi-tasking (running many programs at the same time and opening a lot of windows).
Re: battery life, unplug your laptop after the battery is fully charged to prolong your battery’s life. If you plan to leave it plugged to the outlet (in case you’re planning to use it for hours), take off the battery – but do so only if you don’t have power problems (unannounced brownouts) in your area.
I suggest you go for ACER. I was a TSR for Toshiba in a call center. Durability? Toshiba is the most unreliable notebook product I ever handled! A newly-bought notebook, fresh out of the box, but not working. How do you expect a customer to react? Battery life depends on the number of cells and its usage. As per Toshiba battery, I can guarantee notebooks with good quality battery for high-end notebooks only. So far, I find HP product the best and the most reliable notebook and desktop. Before you purchase your dream notebook, think well, else you will regret it.
Thanks so much Cherleen. I appreciate your input. I am in fact, shopping around. Hehe.
Generally, Acer would be cheaper I think. I’ve heard Toshiba supports political enemies so I’d lean toward Ace if all else was the same.
Thanks for sharing this with me Cole.
ill go with acer because im using acer right now and its awesome but i dunno on toshiba because i wasn’t be able to try it..lol btw can we have link exchange? thanks
thanks Ronel.. sure, we can exchange links!
I would also suggest to first look at the specs and start from there on.
The most important parts would be RAM, CPU speed and a nice graphic card is you like to play games etc…
Also… Please try to get a laptop with Windows 7 on it…
Yes, I would really love Windows 7. The one I’m using now has Vista, and it is S-L-O-W.
[...] have been very, very busy browsing online for different laptop deals, and I think this one is a REAL bargain. Laptops in the US are WAY cheaper than the ones being sold [...]
