The iPhone4S Craze

Ever since the iPhone4S came out here in the country, I’ve seen more than enough iPhone4s being sold for a very cheap price. I guess everyone wants to try out Siri, or maybe our local Vangie?

For once, I’m thankful for the healthy competition between the top 2 telcos, Globe and Smart. Their prices for the iPhone4S are very competitive, and I’m even more thankful that the unit is not exclusive to just one carrier.

I’m sure current studies of the number of subscribers who availed the iPhone4S haven’t been concluded yet, but kudos to the last product that Steve Jobs had a hand on. I wish I could get some of the best cohiba cigars online to salute Mr. Jobs.

Steve Jobs resigns

Apple CEO Steve Jobs officially submitted his resignation to Apple’s Board of Directors Wednesday and strongly recommended that COO Tim Cook take his place. His letter of resignation was not only for the Board and the company but to the million of people in the Apple Community.

Quoting from the BBC Website is an excerpt of his message to the Board:

“Unfortunately, that day has come. I hereby resign as chief executive of Apple.

“I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

“I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.”

Though it is unclear if the reason behind his resignation is his ailing health but this does not come as a surprise to most. Steve Jobs has been on leave since January of this year but still managed to make an appearance during the launch of the iPad2 in March and the Annual Developers Conference in June.

His replacement, Tim Cook, has been successful in temporarily taking the reigns when Steve Jobs took two medical leaves of absence during the past 7 years (2004 and 2009) and has also been the de facto Chief Executive Officer since Jobs took his leave this year.

Steve Jobs is known to have provided the “vision” as to why Apple is as successful as it is now, coming off from near bankruptcy in 1997. His strong recommendation of Tim Cook may prove that Tim has also set his visions aligned with that of Jobs’ and Apple will continue with its success for more years to come.

Geeky about the iCloud

Do you have those moments when you think you’re being such a geek?  I get those moments when I absorb myself in trying to find out the latest news.  I can spend hours and hours just reading about it because I want to update myself in what’s happening around the world.  But there are those moments too that I couldn’t care less.

This thing with the iCloud is one such news.  I’ve been opening multiple tabs to learn what it’s about.  It sounds interesting enough to put some attention to, after all I do use one type of apple product.  The first thing I asked myself is “What can I benefit out of the iCloud?” and that’s when I started to search for more information.

Honestly, I thought that Steve Jobs would slow down a bit since the announcement about his health, but it seems he’s still on a roll and thankfully so since I personally believe he’s the one with the most creative juice in Apple.  If it weren’t for Steve Jobs, I don’t think Apple would be this much farther than any of it’s competition.

Anyway, I still haven’t finished my search on what is the iCloud exactly but I’ll update you of what I learn in a day or two.  Though I’ve seen a lot of articles about it online, until I fully get a grip on it, I’d rather save my opinions for the meantime, and don’t worry because I’m pretty sure it’s just going to be a short while because I plan on being a geek for a couple of days.

See, feeling geeky isn’t that bad.  Sometimes even plain people can become geeks at one time or the other.  Even men who take testosterone cypionate can also be called geeks at times.  Geeks aren’t the usual thin, lanky, types with thick eye-glasses anymore.  Geeks can be the sexy ones too, for both men and women,  even if it means that sexy would only be in the eyes of the beholder.
